Passport Systems, Inc. Awarded $1 Million Contract From Department of Homeland Security For Phase I of the Intelligent Radiation Sensor Systems ProgramNORTH BILLERICA, Mass., Sept. 1, 2009—Passport Systems, Inc. has received a $1 million Phase I award from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Domestic Nuclear Detection Office. Under the Intelligent Radiation Sensor Systems (IRSS) Program, Passport is to develop and prototype a wireless network combining commercially available radiation detection devices with its advanced nuclear and radiological data analysis, fusion and decision algorithms The goal of the IRSS ATD is to demonstrate the ability of a networked system of detectors to optimize the detection, localization, and identification of radiological threats including special nuclear materials and certain medical and industrial isotopes. The initial contract consists of a $1 million preliminary design phase which may be followed by three optional phases to be exercised at the Government’s discretion. If all options are exercised by the Government, the contract value has the potential to increase to $3.97 million culminating in an Advanced Technology Demonstration (ATD). Robert J.
