Billerica, Mass.—January 29, 2009—Passport Systems, Inc., a developer of a new, automated, non-intrusive cargo screening system that will analyze the composition of materials and accurately identify the contents of a container, including commercial items, contraband, fissile materials, explosives, and other materials, received officials from the Town of Billerica and the Massachusetts Office of Business Development at the company’s new facility today.

The visit provided the opportunity to see the progress made by Passport Systems in the development of new technologies aimed at resolving the inspection of cargo without impeding the flow of commerce.

Passport’s management explained the various technologies and the impact they will have in the protection of the country against many threats including smuggled weapons of mass destruction. The visit also served to update the Town and State officials about the prospects of job creation as Passport is gearing up to manufacture its scanners at its facilities in the near future.
