The scientist’s primary responsibilities will include the design and development of various subsystems of Passport’s scanner. The scientist will be responsible for guiding the work other scientists and engineers in the development effort. The scientist will be in charge of the setup, execution and analysis of measurements and system component testing. The candidate will be expected to work with good scientific practices, and communicate results and conclusions in clear, concise, and comprehensive documents, presentations and reports. The scientist will report directly to the Director of Science. The scientist will be part of a small scientific team and will work closely with the engineering and software teams to design, develop and test the scanner.
The scientist should have experience managing a technical team consisting of both physicists and engineers. The candidate should have intimate knowledge with at least one of the following: photon detectors, neutron detectors, data acquisition electronics or electron accelerators. The scientist should have experience designing, building and testing large systems. Hardware and/or software development (preferably in C/C++ or Matlab) experience in an industrial setting are desirable. The candidate should have the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with little supervision. Excellent written and oral, as well as, analytical skills are required.
- PhD Physics or Nuclear Engineering
- 2+ years experience
